Bakersfield TV Channels 17 and 23 were on the scene as the Good Jobs Express hit Bakersfield on October 12. Strong union support came out in favor of the job creation that high-speed rail would bring to the valley. U.S. Congressman Jim Costa spoke, as well as 30th Assembly candidate Fran Florez (who serves on the High Speed Rail agency), and Ward 1 City Council candidate Rudy Salas.
