Carly NO Es Mi Amiga!

After being fired from Hewlett-Packard as well as John McCain’s presidential campaign, CEO Carly Fiorina now seeks to bring her record of failure and self-interest to the U.S. Senate.

TOP 5 REASONS WHY CARLY FIORINA IS NOT A FRIEND OF LATINOS

Click to Download the flyer: Carly NO es mi amiga!  (English) (Spanish)

1. Fiorina pretends to be a friend to Latinos, but her positions on immigration, education and health care put her in direct opposition to the values that Latinos hold dear. DO NOT BE FOOLED, Fiorina is not good for Latinos in California.

2. Carly Fiorina fiercely supports SB 1070 and racial profiling in Arizona. In fact Fiorina was quoted saying, “This law [SB 1070] is necessary because the Federal Government isn’t doing its job and the people in Arizona are in danger.” (Fox News)*

3. Carly Fiorina opposed emergency state aide to help teachers for our schools and Medicaid for our community’s poor. The emergency state aid bill saved the jobs of approximately 13,700–16,500 teachers in California and also funded Medicaid pro- grams serving approximately 7 million Californians **

4. California’s Latinos need a strong economy, and not a job killer CEO Senator with a history of outsourcing jobs and firing thousands of workers. While CEO of HP, Fiorina outsourced jobs and called the move “smartsourcing.” In 2003, she dismissed almost 18,000 people from HP. She has already created job loss in California, and we don’t need her to cause any more.***

5. Carly Fiorina wants to repeal President Obama’s health care bill which would help this nation’s uninsured.****

More on Carly Fiorina:

Carly Fiorina is the poster child for corporate failure.

As 30,000 HP employees lost their jobs and the company’s stock value plummeted, Fiorina was compensated with more than $108 million, including salary, bonuses, and stock options, and she scored a $21.6 million golden parachute when she was fired.

Fiorina engineered a merger with Compaq that has been described as “a total flop”, and a “disaster”, and strong-armed reluctant investors into approving the merger, leading to a $750,000 SEC fine for a key investor and partner. She also got caught up in a scandal for selling HP products to Iran, sidestepping the trade ban with that country. During the six years Fiorina served as CEO, HP stock plummeted 60 percent, from $52 per share to $21 per share.

Fiorina boasts about shipping tens of thousands of U.S. jobs overseas, and says she would do it again.

Fiorina slashed more than 30,000 jobs at HP, many of which were outsourced to other countries – a practice she calls “right-shoring.” She says that one of her regrets was not firing more people more quickly. In fact, when asked if she would lay off 10,000 more workers if she was still CEO of HP, she responded with no hesitation, “Of course.”

Carly Fiorina got rich while her company tanked and her workers lost their jobs.

As 30,000 HP employees lost their jobs and the company’s stock value plummeted, Fiorina was compensated with more than $108 million, including salary, bonuses, and stock options, and she scored a $21.6 million golden parachute when she was fired. That doesn’t include the two corporate jets that she acquired, which cost $1 million per year to operate.

Carly Fiorina opposes federal legislation to create and save jobs and help the unemployed.

Fiorina said that she opposes President Obama’s economic stimulus package, which created or saved more than 500,000 jobs in California. And Fiorina agrees with the controversial stance taken by Sen. Jim Bunning, R-Ky., who held up a vote on a bill that would provide relief to the unemployed.
