There’s an important initiative on the upcoming ballot in February that could change the way our state legislature operates. Proposition 93, the Term Limits and Legislative Reform Act, would impose a shorter total limit on legislative terms, while permitting legislators to serve longer in either legislative house.
Proposition 93 benefits working families because it would make legislators more accountable to their constituents. By gaining more policy-making experience, legislators will rely less on lobbyists and more on their own know-how.
This reform also allows legislators to spend more time working for taxpayers and less time campaigning for their next office.
Proposition 93 strikes a reasonable balance between the need to elect new people with fresh ideas, and the need for experienced legislators with the expertise to solve the complex problems facing our state.
Vote “YES” on Proposition 93 for a more experienced and effective state legislature.
